About
The Heartfelt professionals has been trained in Equine Facilitated Wellness (EFW) and incorporate animal assisted support and nature wellness practices into each of their sessions. Equine Facilitated Wellness is an opportunity to include equine activities and/or an equine environment in order to promote physical and emotional growth in clients. Clients have the opportunity to include horses and dogs into the counselling sessions to promote comfort and safety in clients. Nature wellness provides a platform for clients to discover skills about themselves without four walls around them. We invite clients who may be struggling with social, emotional or behavioural challenges to inquire how Heartfelt can become a part of your support team. We can help individuals build confidence, self-worth, communication, trust, perspective, social skills, impulse control, and learn boundaries. The animals have an innate tendency to mirror the client’s behavior, physical movements and emotions, which help the participant become more aware of their own emotions and how to manage them to fit their lifestyle.

Meet the Counsellor

With over 20 years of experience in the field of counselling and social work, Teri Boyce brings deep compassion, wisdom, and a client-centered approach to her work. She has supported individuals and families through a wide range of challenges, including grief and loss, anxiety and stress reduction, anger management, and the development of emotional literacy and self-worth.
Teri’s connection to animals runs deep. As a proud 4-H member for nine years in her youth and as her children have benefited from 4-H, she experienced firsthand the unique and healing bond that can form between people and animals—an insight that continues to shape her therapeutic approach today.

After earning her Social Work diploma, Teri began her career in Calgary before settling in Central Alberta in 2000 with her husband on his family farm. She took on the role of School Social Worker within the education system and has since expanded her impact through various contracts, including home assessments for Children’s Services, parenting plan support for Alberta Justice, and child counselling through Ponoka FCSS.

Teri is committed to ongoing learning and culturally responsive practice. She has completed training in play therapy techniques, trauma-informed care, and Indigenous cultural awareness, including engaging in ceremony and learning from elders about traditional ways of knowing.
Recently completing her Master’s in Counselling Psychology, Teri is working toward certification as a registered counsellor. She is also an EFW (Equine-Facilitated Wellness) trained Learning Practitioner and integrates animal-assisted interventions into her work to enhance connection and healing for her clients.
